Deciding On Radiation

I opted not to have radiation after mastectomy and chemotherapy. It was advised by my oncologist, surgeon and radiologist. I sought a second opinion from a radiologist at another hospital with the same results; even though I had had a mastectomy, because of lymph node involvement I had 8 positive for cancer radiation to the chest and underarm area was advised. I did my own research and discovered that only one major study had been done to show that there was some benefit from radiation for patients who had a mastectomy. The usual protocol until this study was to use radiation primarily on patients who had a lumpectomy. Radiation scared me more than chemotherapy. Others have claimed the opposite, that they would prefer not having infusion, but rather surgery and only radiation. One radiologist scoffed at my questions, which is why I sought another opinion. The second radiologist answered my inquiries in depth. He agreed that radiation cannot be completely controlled. This means that other organs can be affected...

Does Natural Pain Relief Really Exist?

Everyone will suffer pain at some point in their lives. Grim as this may sound, some pain is necessary it s a signal from our brain that something is wrong in our body, something we need to address to protect our health and well-being. Setting goals is one of the most important keys to achieving success. Did you know that less than 3 of people have written goals. Just wishing and hoping for something isn t going to make it happen. Setting a goal is having a target to shoot for and a plan to get there. When planning your goals, choose which categories you would like for your goals. Establish the time frame. Also you can have ongoing goals, such as exercising 3 5 times a week.Be specific when you write your goals. Don t just write down I want to lose weight. Make sure your goal statement is positive. Don t say, I don t want to be fat. Say I will be a healthy 130 pounds by May 2007.The achievement of a worthwhile goal can seem daunting at first. The easiest way to proceed is to break your goal down into smaller steps. Start with the first step then move onto the next. When...

Snapple, Arizona Iced Tea and a handful of other specialty RTD teas catapulted the entire loose leaf tea category into double-digit growth while whetting appetites on Wall Street. Increasing interest from America s 76 million baby boomers just beginning to embrace tea as a health-promoting product for the entire...
